Four Freelance Journalists captured by Libyan Govenment

From Lauren, Care2
Freelance war correspondents, James Foley and Clare Gillis from the U.S., Manu Brabo from Spain and Anton Hammarl from South Africa, put their lives in jeopardy everyday so that we can stay informed on the situation in Libya, a country where journalists are under attack.

Unfortunately, on April 5th, these risks proved true, and the Libyan government captured all four journalists and has not confirmed a release date.

Friends of Foley have created a petition asking the Libyan government to release these innocent journalists.»

Because these journalists do not work for a large news corporation, the Government of Libya is not faced with diplomatic pressure to release James, Clare, Manu and Anton. Friends and family of the journalists need your help to ensure the release of their loved ones.

Below is a message from the petition author and close friend of James Foley:

These four journalists have been held in Libya since April 5th, 2011.By signing our petition, you adding your voice to the appeal to bring them home. It is our hope that significant public attention and awareness will serve as a catalyst for their freedom. Thank you for your support.

If we can't allow journalists to do their job, we ultimately have no power. Their work is greatly appreciated and we hope they are released from Libyan custody immediately.

Please sign this petition to let the Libyan government know that you demand the release of these journalists. »

Thanks for taking action!
